Barclays: Frequently asked questions

Mortgages: How much can I borrow?

There are a number of factors that may influence how much you can borrow, including:

  • The amount you're able to put down as a deposit - normally at least 5%.
  • Your income and financial commitments.
  • Whether you're buying alone or with someone else.

You'll need to speak to a mortgage specialist to find out how much you can borrow.

Apart from the deposit, other costs to take into consideration would be legal fees, stamp duty, valuation/survey fees, estate agents fees (if selling an existing property) and possible mortgage administration fees and insurance premiums.

See our mortgage calculator to get an idea of how much you could borrow.

YOUR HOME MAY BE REPOSSESSED IF YOU DO NOT KEEP UP YOUR REPAYMENTS ON YOUR MORTGAGE.
