Safe custody service: What's Barclaysafe and how does it work?
Barclaysafe allows you to store your most valuable possessions with the security of Barclays. There are two levels of service.
This is appropriate for documents, such as house deeds and wills (ie items with no intrinsic value). They are held in tamper-evident wallets supplied by us. These are stored centrally and, with just one phone call, can be sent by Special Delivery to your home (before noon the next working day) or your branch for collection (within 48 hours).
- £3 per wallet per month
- £10 per wallet per access (applies to Special Delivery and branch access).
Existing Barclaysafe customers can access their wallet by calling 08457 660248. To maintain a quality service, we may monitor or record phone calls.
Following a review, the Barclaysafe Premium Service is to be withdrawn from all of our branches and we are no longer accepting new customers to this service. We cannot yet confirm when individual branches or customers will be affected, but the withdrawal will be carried out on a branch-by-branch, phased basis, beginning in September 2011 – it should be completed by December 2013. Customers using the service will be contacted in advance of its withdrawal from the branch where they have items stored.
General information for existing customers – If you call the branch where you have items stored before 4pm the day before your box is required, you can arrange a suitable time to collect. If you use this service, we advise you to insure your box in the same way you would at home.
- Storage charges: £10 per container per quarter
- Access charges: £5 per container per access
