How do I cancel a Direct Debit?

There are a number of ways to cancel your Barclays Direct Debit, but first you’ll also need to tell the company who you usually pay that you’ll be cancelling your Direct Debit, and pay them any money you owe.

You can cancel your Direct Debit in the following ways:

Online Banking
Log in to Online Banking and go to the ‘Account services' menu. Select the option to amend or cancel payments and follow the instructions. Remember to make sure that you don’t cancel all your Direct Debits, just the one that you no longer want to pay.

We’ll need 1 working day’s notice before the payment is due to leave your account and this must be before 5:30pm. For example, if you want to cancel a payment that’s due on Monday, you’ll need to let us know before 5:30pm on Friday.

Telephone Banking
You can cancel your Direct Debit using Telephone Banking on 0345 734 5345 (outside the UK +44 247 684 2100) * (if you’re registered).

In branch
Or you can cancel your Direct Debits in a branch.

* To maintain a quality service, we may monitor or record phone calls. Call charges
