Barclays Frequently asked questions

Ask a question

What is web chat?

Barclays online service, web chat, allows you to talk online to a Barclays agent about selected products and services without having to make a phone call or visit a branch.

When you’re on the Barclays website you may get an invitation to chat, depending on the page or product application you’re surfing at the time. If you accept the invite, a chat window will open.

Our agents can answer your questions about the product you’re researching or the application you’re making. However, they cannot give you advice on whether the product is right for you - you can call the phone number on the page to talk to a member of staff about this instead.

At the end of the chat, use the ‘Print’ button on the chat window to print a transcript to keep.

For your own security you should never disclose any personal or account information when using the chat service. This includes passwords, account numbers and balances.

The chat is fully secure using SSL technology.

Once you’ve finished the chat, we'll ask you to complete a short survey on the service as your opinion is important to us.
