I've been turned down for credit, how do I find out why?
You'll be turned down for credit or borrowing if your credit score is too low. If this happens, we can usually tell you the reason but we can't give you the details. One reason may be that there's detrimental information registered against you with the credit reference agencies that we use. If this is the case, you can get this information from the agencies directly. You have the right to correct any inaccurate information they hold about you.
The credit reference agencies used by Barclays are Experian and Equifax. They will answer your enquiries in writing at the addresses below. Please provide them with your full name, date of birth and all addresses at which you have lived during the past six years. The charge is £2, which you can pay by cheque (eg pay Experian Ltd) or postal order.
