How much notice do I need to give to cancel standing orders, Direct Debits and future-dated payments?
Nobody wants to throw money away by making payments they don’t need to, so if you want to cancel a standing order or Direct Debit we’ll do our best to help.
Just be sure to give us enough time.
If you want to cancel standing orders and Direct Debits online, give us at least one working day’s notice before the payment is due to come out of your account - and before 5.30pm. For example, if you want to cancel a payment that’s due on Monday, tell us before 5.30pm on Friday.
If you need to cancel the payment after this time, contact your branch or Telephone Banking on 08457 555555* (if you’re registered).
To cancel payments, log in to Online Banking if you’re a member, click on the Change Payments link on At a Glance and follow the instructions.
If you cancel a Direct Debit, let the company you’re paying know or they may keep trying to take cash out of your account.
