My PINsentry card reader says 'Pin locked'. What does this mean?
If a PIN is incorrectly entered into a PINsentry card reader 3 times, the PIN will be locked. You'll no longer be able to use PINsentry with this card, and will not be able to make card purchases in shops until it’s unlocked.
The PIN is locked on the chip in the card itself – so it’s impossible to unlock it remotely. If you remember your PIN you can unlock the card by visiting a Barclays ATM in the UK. If you don’t know your PIN, you’ll need a PIN reminder to unlock your card.
UK cards can’t be unlocked at Barclays ATMs in other countries. So if you’re unable to visit a UK Barclays ATM, a replacement card may need to be issued.
Alternatively, if you’re registered for Telephone Banking, call us on 0345 734 5345 (outside the UK dial +44 24 7684 2100). 24 hour push-button service or talk to an adviser Monday to Sunday 7am-11pm. To maintain a quality service, we may monitor or record phone calls. Call charges.
Follow the steps below to unlock the PIN when visiting a Barclays ATM in the UK:
1. Insert your card
2. Enter the correct PIN
3. Select ‘PIN Services’ and then ‘Unlock PIN’.
Your PIN should unlock and you’ll be able to use your debit card as normal.
