Mortgages: How much can I borrow?
There are a number of factors that may influence how much you can borrow, including:
- The amount you're able to put down as a deposit - normally at least 5%.
- Your income and financial commitments.
- Whether you're buying alone or with someone else.
You'll need to speak to a mortgage specialist to find out how much you can borrow. Apart from the deposit, other costs to take into consideration would be legal fees, stamp duty, valuation/survey fees, estate agents fees (if selling an existing property) and possible mortgage administration fees and insurance premiums.
